Not having auto insurance is a huge red flag to every insurance company, and now you have one on your account. All you can do is shop around for a better price.
Hunny, it all depends on you age, garaging zip code, make/model/year of vehicle, proof of prior insurance?, home ownership? Honestly though, that seems WAY to high for any type of auto insurance!
Apparently they have decided to place you in their companion company which is their “high risk” division. This is standard procedure after being canceled. As for whether the premium amount is too high or not. The only way to see if it is in line is to get quotes from other companies.
I have a very strong hunch that they would rather not insure you at all, hence the high premium.
